Visa revalidation at DOS

We have an approved L-1 petition from Jan 2001 through Dec 2002. When we sent our passports to the DOS for visa revalidation in Dec 2000, they gave us visa Valid until Jan 2002. However, when we used this visa to enter into US in Oct 2001, we got I-94 valid through Dec 2002 (same as last date on the approved petition).

Do we need to revalidate visas again for the same petition? Would we be out of status if we lived in US beyond Jan 2002 (expiry date on visa) even though we have an I-94 valid through Dec 2002.?

I-94 which is given at the POE is the date till your visa is valid

Thanks Permres. So I94 date takes precedence over the expiry date on the visa stamp right?

YES - Visa Validity starts from the date you enter US

People can get their approval in consulate but they enter into US after couple of months, VISA Clock is reflected in I 94 it takes precedence
