Visa for Kaplan 7 weeks live prep course

Hi there!

I am a foreign medical graduate currently on F2 visa in the U.S. i thinking to take 7 weeks live prep kaplan course for step 1 but I have been told that I would need F1 visa status. According to my visa status, I can enroll in part time study or other vocational studies. I am not sure if taking a live prep for 7 weeks count as full time study or not.

Can anyone help me with this? Has someone experienced that same situation before or now?
I would really appreciate your help!

Yes that's right F-2 may engage in a study that is avocational or recreational in nature.In order to change the visa type you would require the USCIS Form I-539 to change status. Please check with the concerned officials about why you can't do with F-2 status.Good luck!
