Visa for CSA and then....

Hi everybody!
I am a foreign medical student graduating in about 6 months. I am preparing very hard for USMLE step1 and2. What worries me most is I am not sure if they will give me a visa to enter US to take CSA. What can I do to maximise the chance to get the visa for csa? And what if they just give me a very short visa? Are there ways to extend the csa visa so that I have time for interviews and to apply for residency?
Freinds with similar problems, lets discuss our problem. Thanks.

visa for csa

I dont think there are any magic formula for getting a visa for the csa. Many IMGs have done this, many got denied for one reason or the other. A lot depends on where you are applying for the visa. I know a lot of Indian friends who are being denied repeatedly for visa to take the CSA. I know this sounds unfair and perhaps it is, but the you cannot deny the nature of the beast.
Usually the visa given for the CSA is a B1/B2 visa which is a tourist visa, this can usually be extended while you are in the USA, but this is frowned upon by the consuls and may in the future decrement your chances of getting any other visa. It is a gamble, it is unpredictable. Unfortunately, these are not answers to your questions but points to ponder.

Visa for CSA

Dear Nabin,
Visa for CSA depends on many factors like the place you are applying and your status in that country and so on.If you are in India and you declare that you are a doctor and show them your CSA admission card I am sure there is 99 percent chance that your visa will be REJECTED.They will tell you that you are a prospective immigrant.
I heard that people from Delhi are getting visas.Check with your friends. The major hurdle to goto USA is the visa and next comes getting into a residency.I am not trying to discourge you.Where there is will, there will be a way.Nobody can assure you 100 percent that you are going to get visa and residency. You have to be optimistic and try hard.Speak to few people who have got visas and got in to residencies.Don\'t rush hastily and apply for visa and get rejected.Best of luck.
