Visa Background Check VS. AOS Background Check

I am stuck in FBI Name Check since Sept, 2006. I am planning to go to Canada for my H1-B Visa stamping.

As I am stuck in Name Check for Adjustment of Status, what are the chances that I will be stuck in Background Check for the visa issuance?

Any practical information will be helpful and appreciated.

I applied for my seventh year H1 stamping in Pakistan in Jan. 2007 and had to go through Admin Processing(I think another name for security check etc) but it got cleared in 7 days. My NC is still pending although I didn't know at the time of H1 visa application. I came to know about pending NC only after my 485 dates were crossed at TSC and inquired at an infopass.

I would say they are different animals!

Thanks Jef. Its good to know that they are not the same.
At the interview, did they tell you that it will take 6-8 weeks for processing and then you were lucky or it is a standard time that they usually take to process BCs?
