I have booked my appointment for April via VFS website for the chennai consulate. I also rescheduled it once. After I made the appointment, the VFS website provided the completed DS 156 PDF form.

-I now notice a minor mistake in the employer address zip code (Question. 20)
- Also the response to q.22 "when do you intend to arrive in the US" has changed since I reschduled my trip by a week.

I do NOT see a way to make changes to this DS 156 PDF that was generated from the VFS website.

I can print a new DS 156 from the http://evisaforms.state.gov/
BUT the bar code generated will be totally new one.

The original DS 156 that the VFS website generated contained my appointment receipt number as the bar code.

My question is:
As the VFS webiste does not allow for changes, Can I fill up & print a new DS 156 from the http://evisaforms.state.gov/ website ? This will have a new bar code. Is this ok?

thanks.

You can change your form through the VFS website, when you click on apply for non-immigrant visa and fill in your details, click on modify link and you should be able to modify it.
I have done this many times and it can happen.

I already have an appointment. I have rescheduled it once. Now if I try to login, the only options are reschdule and cancel.

I cannot reschedule again. The system will not allow.

Are you saying that I try to start another appointment and abandon it after I get to the place where the forms are generated?

That is very wierd that you are not allowed to change those forms. I do not know holw else you can change it. You can call them and ask if it is okay to print a new form and write in all information.

ok I figured out.

You have to click the "Apply for a non immigrant visa" link and then proceed then you'll be given the option to make changes to DS 156 & 157, even the petition number.

I was clicking on the Reschedule/Cancel appointment link since that was the one that was obivious.

Phew!
Now, I can make changes to the DS 156 (Question 16 and after only) and print it as many times as I want and still retain the same bar code.
