Hi,
I am getting married in mid-may this year. i plan to get a H-1 visa revalidation in New Delhi and at the same time have my spouse (fiancee at this time) to appear for an H4.
Now here is the tough part
Forms DS156-7 have to be filled online on the VFS website at the time of bopking the appointment for both primary and dependent.
Catch: The VFS web site generates a barcode for each DS form and puts the current date on the form.
Now lets say i do this on Feb 12 to get an appointment date of May 29. Let us say the marriage day is May 15.
Q17 Marital Status (I am not really married now though i will be by May 29.
Q18Name of spouse
Thing is if i say i am not married, then how am i taking her visa appointment in the first place? But technically i am not married on Feb 12 so am i setting myself for trouble when and if the visa officer asks for the marriage certificate and sees the marriage day as May 15 while the application prepared on Feb 12 alredy claims married status.
Is this cause for concern?
(One alternative is goto India get a court certified marriage, come back, take the appointment (God knows by which time appointment dates would have jumped to 2007) and then go for interview. That is really tough since company will not get vacation every 2 months)
One of my friends has already taken the appointment with the same situation and now i have scared him too.
Can anyone who has gone through similar scenario please advise?
Will emailing the consulate/embassy and asking about it create issue?
