Sorry for posting this here. I know this is a question for B1 visa forum. But maybe someone has gone through this experience here as well. Please gurus give me some advice on the following situation:

We have a very strange and urgent problem. My parents went for the B1 visa interview last week and the officer approved them for a visa.

The applied through TT Services agency. Yesterday they got the passports back. In my Dad's passport he had the 10 year visa sticker. But in my mother's passport there was a visa sticker for some other gentleman.

Someone at the US consulate made a mistake by putting the wrong person's visa in mother's passport and probably vice versa.

What can my parents do in this situation. All the tickets and bookings are ready but now the Consulate has done this mistake.

Any advice at this point would really help me a lot. Please Guru's or Mr Khanna give me some advice on how to tackle this situation.

My parents are planning to go to the US consulate again on Tuesday. But could this be a problem for them at the port of entry ? Should they travel if the consulate cancels the other visa and puts in a new sticker ?

Regards to All !!

no problem

same thing happend to my mother too, because we are near to counsulate she went next day to TT services office and explained at the front desk and they oblized and at the end of the day she got her visa. They have cancelled the old visa.

Thanks RaghuC for your reply. I really appreciate it a lot.

My parents live in Chandigarh which is about 5 hours from Delhi. Unfortunately thery would have to drive again to the consulate as there is no office for TT Service in Chandigarh. Hopefully they will be allowed to enter the consulate as these days I believe nobody can enter the consulate without a web appointment. So I am a bit concerned there. Can you answer couple of more questions about this :

1)So in your mother's case: Does the old sticker remain in her passport. Or did the consulate just remove it alltogether ? If not then do they type on it saying CANCELLED DUE TO ERROR or something similar.

2) Also was she asked any odd questions at the port of entry by the officer. Because they might suspect that this is someone else's passport which this person may be using. I have heard so much about visa fraud, and passports being stolen with US visa in India. That is why I am wondering if this thing will always be a problem for my mother whenever she comes to visit me.

I would deeply appreciate your replies again.

POE officers know that consulate makes these errors.

It is usual for consulates to stamp the wrong visa with "CANCELED WITHOUT PREJUDICE", which means there will be no problems for the passpost holder in the future due to this cancellation.

It is fairly common for overworked consular officers to make this mistake. In my case they got my name and sex wrong and it took two cancelled visa stamps on my passport to correct each one of them.
Just be polite and explain that it was not your mistake. All of us are human and to be fair understand that these things happen.

Hope this helps you put your mind at ease.

Thanks guys for all your inputs. I guess mistakes do happen. Although it is hard to imagine that someone who puts the visa sticker does not validate the photograph to match the photo of the passport holder.

I guess it is because they probably dont have enough resources. My parents are going again on Tuesday to Delhi (they live about 5 hours from delhi ) and hopefully TTServices will try and get this resolved. My mother would probably always have to explain this issue at Port of Entry but i guess nothing can be done about this.

I will let you guys know the outcome.

RaghuC: if you could answer both my question addressed to you, I would be very grateful for your input there.

Regards to ALL !!

Hi Guys. The problem has been resolved. Thanks a lot for your responses !! Can you guys also shed some light on some good Medical Insurance companies from the US.

This has probably been touched many times. But to make it simple :

1) Is there any insurance provider in the US which the doctor can bill directly to the insurance provider so we dont have to go through the hassle of paying the bill upfront and then fighting over claims.

2) I have checked several policies including LIASION, INBOUND USA but none of them say that. They all tell me that we wil have to pay upfront.

Because if we pay upfront then we might as well buy the cheap insurance from India. Because I dont think companies here will reimburse the cost as well.

Gurus ; please give me some advice about good medical insurace providers which you may have used for your parents or friends. Any website or tel number will also help a great deal.

Thanks in advance !!
