VERY..VERY.. IMPORTANT, Please respond

My I-140 (EB-2) was approved last week. I going to apply AOS (I-485) with in
two weeks. But my wife went to India to attend her cousine(s) marriage.
I sure that she may not able to come here until april end. One of my
friend says that, before applying AOS the principal applicant(H1B) (that is me)
and spouse(H4) also should be here i.e in US. My question is
Is that the above statment is really true?

Our lawyer had advised so...

She had advised that all the applicants should to be in the country (US) while applying for AOS. Don\'t know the exact reason!
 
I am sorry for the confussion ...

This is not my case. My friend forwarded this mail to me and just cut and paste on
the board. Yes, you are right, my was sent on nov 10th.

You can apply for the I-485 now and send your wife\'s application when she returns in April

She must be in the US to file for AOS.
