Very Urgent Please Help..h1 to h4

I came to US on H4. In 2006 I applied for H1 and got approved which was effective from Oct 1 2006. I could not find any work on H1. Now I want to go back to H4. How can I do that? I am not sure whether I am out of status or still on H1? If I am out of status right now can I apply for H4 while in US? What is the other alternative to go back on H4? What all documents I need to file for my new H4?

Did the company that filed your h1b run you on the payroll ? If they've done that then you're fine, and can transfer to H4 smoothly. If not seek lawyers help immediately. mukesh, rahasiam.com
