As long as you have been in sudan for more than 6 months you need to provide the police record + every single police record in any country that you lived there for more than 6 months! Good luck.

US DoS website says the records are unavailable so they clearly don't expect the applicant to be able to provide them. I'm not sure if or how this affects visa issuance.

That isn't correct. The rules are that you are to provide a police cert for each country where you have lived for over 12 months (or any length of time if you were arrested in that country).

As SusieQQQ says, the USCIS website states that Police Certs are not available for Sudan - so you can pass an interview without providing that certificate - although of course you may still need to supply them for other countries according to the rule I mention above.

I lived in Juba (south Sudan) between January 2009 and May 2010. That time it was still under the larger Sudan. So when I started the DV process in May 2012, I checked about police certificate for both South Sudan and Sudan, but according to DoS website police certificates were not available for both countries. However, two months to my interview I checked again and the status had changed for South Sudan and so they said police certificates are available for South Sudan. When I tried to investigate if South Sudan police issues certificate for people who live there before the split, they told me they do not. So I just went to the interview and I got the visa. I think the embassy was already aware of the situation. Even now it is still very difficult to get Police certificate in South Sudan. For Sudan, it is not available. So you do not have to worry.

FYI from another forum, posted today - Ameer, I would suggest you contact the Embassy you're interviewing at to be sure what you need to do.

my brother in law and his wife just got their PC's 2 weeks ago from Sudan. That information is inaccurate.
