I recently received my interview letter for my interview on 8/14. Before receiving this letter, I had to have my fingerprints taken twice. Both the times the ASC officer said that the prints are bad and will likely be rejected. After giving my fingerprints the second time when I received my interview notice , I was pleased and thought that they must have been find a couple of good prints.

Just today, however, I was shocked to receieve a third fingerprint notice (saying my previous prints were rejected)! The fingerprinting is scheduled for 8/12. How can this happen ? Why would they send an interview notice when they know that the prints are rejected ? If I appear for the interview on 8/14, how is it possible that they will get the results of my prints taken on 8/12 in time for the interview? Should I just reschedule the interview OR do an infopass OR just go for the fingerprinting and interview on the dates scheduled? I read somewhere that some folks got a notice that they should bring police reports since their fingerprints are rejected. I received no such notice. Should I take the reports anyway ? Are there any standards that say what the police report should contain and if it should be certified etc..?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Lucky.

Just do everything as scheduled and you should be fine as fingerprints are recd. in a day from FBI unless they match with someone who is on their list!!! (just kidding)

Can you please post the your dates etc.

I agree, you have nothing to hide, and the results will be send to the CIS at the same day, or next day.

Don't reschadeule your interview. if possible, get the police records form each city you've lived at for the last five years with you, and you should be fine.

I wish you the best.

Timeline

Thanks for the advice.

My only concern now is that the Fingerprinting is on the 12th which is a Saturday and the Interview is first thing in the morning on Monday the 14th. Hopefully the fingerprints are sent on Saturday itself. If not I will take police records for the past 5 years. Does these records need to be certified?

04/13/2006 - N400 Applied
06/24/2006 - 2nd Fingerprint
07/06/2006 - Received interview notice
8/12/2006 - 3rd Fingerprint (Saturday)
08/14/2006 - Interview date (Monday)

It doesn't really matter whether the fingerprints were already processed or not because they won't adjudicate you case on 8/14. The best thing that could happen to you on 8/14 is that they recommend your case for approval. Bear in mind that fingerprints processing and name check are two different things. You can call the FBI to find out if your fingerprints were processed. The operator will transfer you to someone who will ask you for your Alien Registration # and will inform you if your fingerprints were processed and sent back to USCIS. They usually do that between 45 minutes and 48 hours of your fingerprints being taken.
In my case, I was fingerprinted on Saturday, April 29, 2006 and according to FBI records the fingerprints were processed and sent back to USCIS on Sunday, April 30, 2006; therefore, the whole thing is done automatically, unless your fingerprints -let the thought perish!- match someone else's...

Einmalig - Are you sugesting that MY case will not be adjucated after the interview (for some reason) or are you saying that this is the normal process for everyone (ie. no cases are adjucated at the conclusion of a citizenship interview) ?

What I am saying is that in most cases they don't grant final approval of the application right after the interview. They have 120 days after the interview is conducted in order to adjudicate your case. But at the end of the interview, the interviewing officer will hand you over a copy of N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results) where s/he will inform you whether you passed the tests of English and US history and government and will further inform you whether your application has been recommended for approval. This means, as they phrase it in that document, "that at his time it appears that you have established your eligibility for naturalization. If final approval is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath Ceremony"

There are cases where they do swear applicants in the same day of the interview provided that they conduct swearing in ceremonies and that everything is fine (fingerprints, FBI background check, etc)...

I wish you the best of luck with your application!
