My wife just received the following RFE

Evidence of record indicates that you were granted asylum in the USA as a dependent. As you are now 29 years old and married, you are no longer eligible to adjust your status to permanent resident as a dependent. service guidance requires that derivative asylees who no longer qualify as a spouse or child, be processed for asylum in thier own right "nunc pro tunc" to the date of thier original grant of asylum.

please complete form I-589, application for asylum and return it to this office.

What does that means?
my wife was 23 when we granted asylum,i added her in my application when i originaly filled

Dont worry. If she got an approval letter separately..there may be some confusion. I think its time you talk to a lawyer.....

as long as you're still married to each other she will be fine but definitely get a lawyer to deal with this...good luck

Was she granted asylum your dependent (your wife) or as the dependent of her parents who filed the main asylum application?

Then the officer made an error. Send them a letter telling them of the facts. It should be easy to take care of.

After talking to Io today she recommended me to send a letter to explain with the supported paper work, she belived that they considered me wife as a CHILD
