Very Strange Delay

My mother passed her Citizenship exam on 6/28/02 in Los Angeles office and she was told to wait for her swearing ceremony. After more than a year of waiting and correspondence, we began to visit the local office to inquire on her case on many occasions.

In the last visit the officer told us that they never had her file and the interviewing officer should not have examined her and allows her to take the exam and her file has to be rebuilt from the beginning.

They send us a letter 0n 09/22/04 indicating that "continuing the case, awaiting second interview, submission of documents or other actions"
and they would respond in 120 days which they did not.

I am hoping someone can shed some light on this and more importantly can recommend a competent attorney in Los Angeles area. We have spent several thousand dollars on attorneys that seem to do nothing but send a letter.

Thanks

I have not tried a senator yet.

My mother never moved during her citizenship application and she has been living in Los Angeles for past 10 years. She got her green card almost 20 years ago in Detroit office.

At this junction I am looking for a very competent attorney.

Thanks everone.

Have you considered reapplying?

If they tell you they don't have her file you might as well just reapply.

Ask them if this is a feasible option for your Mom. Granted, it will cost you the application fee, but that is much less than attorney fees....

Yalag;

I never thought about reapplying. I do not know if it can be done at this stage but I will definitley look into it.

Thanks
