I hope I can get some answer...very worried
I am a legal resident from Canada since 5/22/99 by marriage with a US citizen I became permanent resident with green card on 5/22/2001 which expired on 10/19/2011..when i filed for my green card with had to do it through hardship for a theft conviction 20 years ago....2 weeks ago i applied for a passport with the intention to ask for my US citizenship...but I got caught for shoplifting...which was not intentional.. I was with my 1yr old baby whow was fussy and forgot to pay...but this is a long story...So I have a criminal attorney to help me with this matter...I also a trip planned in Canada in the middle of august...she told me I could go with no problem..which i have a doubt about this as I know how hard it is to go through the border....so I need some true answer please
1st - Can I go on my trip safely?
2nd - Can the immigration use my 20 years incidents againts me?
3rd - Whats is the best and the worst outcome my criminal attorney can get for me? (she's trying to get the case dismissed)
4th - Can I still get my US citizenship even after this incident and if yes when is the best time for me to apply considering the dates relating to my green card above?
5th - If the case get dismiss...can I travel out of the country without no problem after?
6th - Do I face deportation? What would happened with my 1yr old baby?
Please help...cant sleep too good lately
