After 20 months of waiting i decded to contact congressman office of my district and guess what , they immediatly took the case and started investigating the delay ...

The big surprize was that they reached a point were the Approved I-140 is at the american consulate of my country and as soon as they get it back they will process my I-485. The congressman office contacted the consulate and will get my I-140 back to USA ASAP.

The question is what if i kept waiting and waiting with no move,....I guess i would on EAD for ever.....

hey, have you recently travelled

if you have, then they will send a request to consulate at your country to verify your background G235A. not 140. That must be a mistake. G235A is sent to your country if within certain time before adjudication you're out of country.

Your I-140 could have been approved for CP, not AOS (I-485).

This is a common (BUT PAINFUL) mistake made by the legacy INS!

When applying for 140 - I think we have to mention it. When a 140 is approved, it is approved for either CP or for AOS. It is not depndant on the service center which is approving. If 140 is approved for APS, then the service center holds it for 485 else it is supposed to send the 1140 approval papers to the corresponding consulate.
Once a 140 is approved for AOS, then if you want to apply for CP - you will have to file some form to ask Service center to forward the information to the consulate.
