Hello GC Gurus,
I have applied for I485 in Vermont in Feb 2001. My finger printing was
done in May 2001. Mine is EB2. The questions I have are:
1. When can I expect the I485 approval.
2. Is it necessary to call FBI or INS to verify if finger printing was OK.
3. If finger prints not OK, how long does it take INS to ask for new sets.
4. Calling INS on status is it too early or can I call now.
5. Changing employers after Aug 2001; are there any hasseles and should
new employer do "tons" of paperwork.
Thanks much,

Right now, I believe they are "officially" processing July \'00 cases so it could be a while before they get to yours. It could even be pretty fast since the volume of cases in June00, july00, Aug, sep, oct, nov, dec00 etc is pretty minimal.

Fingerprinting has nothing to do with approval. There are cases when people had to get fingerprinted more than once (Fingerprinting is valid only for 15 months). My FP was done in October, 2000.

FBI does not let you know the fingerprinting status (earlier they used to) now. They just let you know that the FP results were sent back to the INS (they won\'t mention if it was good or bad). You can maybe check with the Vermont Service Center (VSC). My wife\'s FP was rejected the first time and had to be re-done.

In your case, I believe it is too early to check for status. It could be a good 6 months before your case may even be looked at assuming that the INS keeps working at the pace at which they have been working over the past few months.

Changing employers I think can be done if 6 months have passed after you filed for I485. But always consult a lawyer before doing so.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot ak001. Your input is appreciated.
Well I called the FBI this morning. A lady checked for a few mins. She said they have sent the results to the INS the same day.
She did not say if prints were OK. She did not say if it was approved or rejected either. Any thoughts on this GC gurus ?

I can\'t get through VSC call center, get a busy signal. If I get through will the VSC officer tell me about Finger prints, expected
approval date, etc ?

Thanks again, hope to hear from you folks soon.
