My I-140 was filed at VSC under EB2
ND: 10/29/2002
RD: 10/31/2002
No RFE or approval yet. My company filed only 140 (not 485 Concurrently). Can I file 485 myself now. It seems that concurrent filesrs are approved fast at VSC. Will it be considered as concurrent filing if I file 485 now.
Does anyone have experience in filing 485 himself (without lawyer)

DO NOT FILE CONCURRENT

Do not make that mistake. When BCIS gets to your i140 and see that you also have a 485 pending, then will sit on it for longer. i140 alone gets approved faster. BCIS, contrary to common sense, seems to be faster when doing things in sequence then in parallel, simple things for simple minds. Do yourself a favor, avoid the temptation. I have filed concurrently and i regret doing it to the point where i would like me company to refile just the i140 then 485, which might be faster then the currently pending concurrent filing... :(

Thanks for responding. I got my 140 filed almost same time as yours in EB2 at VSC.

I had not yet received any RFE or approval on I-140. I had impression that concurrent filed I-140 are filed faster as most of the approval message posted on this forum seems to be from concurrent filers only. Can you tell me little more about why u think otherwise? Your case may be delayed due to some other reason also (you know VSC randomness)

I shall appreciate if other members may also post their experiences with concurrent vs nonconcurrent filing of I-140. This will make my decision to file (or not to file) 485 at this time easier.

Thanks
