Verify Name Check Prior to the Interview

Could you please let me know if there is a way to verify if the FBI name check has been completed prior to N400 interview.

If so could you please let me know contact numbers or pointers.

I've seen in replies from other folks in this forum that the FBI may be too busy to give you a response on your fingerprints..but you can try to call them if you'd like.

From the postings, it seems like the fingerprints get to the FBI on the day of your fingerprint appt and then the FBI sends it back to USCIS on the same day.

I was told Name check is different from FP check. I was also told Name check involves something with Phoentics and is kind of manual process which is the main reason for the issues w.r.t Name check.

Hi there!

Yes, FP and name check are completely different things. You can try to get some information regarding the status of your name check prior to your interview by either scheduling an InfoPass appointment or calling the 1-800 misinformation line. If you call, request them to 'escalate' your call (meaning: transfering it) to an actual officer who has access to your record using your A #.
