Friends,
I understand that the temporary visa given after CP is valid for 6 months. In other words, we need to enter the US to get a \'GC\' stamp on our Passport before 6 months elapse after the CP interview. My question is, what happens if somebody needs an extension?
My situation : I am in India for some time. My interview is scheduled at chennai on March 28. My wife is pregnant, due May end. Her doctors have strictly forbidden her from taking any flight after March. Which means she will deliver in India.
Which means the baby (born by june 1st week), will need to get a Birth Certificate (min 7 days), then a Passport (min 15 days) , and then send a Packet3 to chennai and get a CP \'interview\' (min 2 mths). Knowing the speed of BC and PP in india, and then the wait for CP, this might possibly cross Sep 28 (6 mths from march 28).
So, the question is, will my wife be able to get an extension on her CP-temp-visa? Or will she need to enter the US without baby, come back and enter with the baby again (is that allowed)?
Or any other way out?
Thanks in anticipation...
