I am in the US on H1B since Jan 2001. I was posted on an on-site project as a contractor. The contract is over now and my employer does not have another project ready for me at this moment. The financial condition of my employer is not good enough so that he can afford to pay me bench salary. And also my employer doesn\'t want to fire me.
I have few questions as below
1) Can I go on unpaid vacation for 2-3 months or till the time my employer finds a new project for me?
2) If yes then is there any time limit for which I can stay on unpaid vacation in US without going back to my home country?
