VA Backlog and Meeting with the Governor

Hi All

I am getting quite upset with all the waiting. But we can't remain quite.

Why don't we get together and talk to Governor Warner? We can ask him to set up a premium system to expedite labor certifications.

We just cannot ask to get more staff ... Virginia has a huge deficit thanks to the former Governor.

I will need to know the following:

1) How many people are stuck in the process? RIR and NON RIR
2) How many new cases are received per month?
3) Fee. If we ask for a fee system to be set up to institute an expedited process, we must know how much people will be willing to spend. Myself, I don't care, I'll pay anything! How about from $1,000 - $2,000 What will be a realistic figure?

If someone can either give me answers to 1-3, or can tell me how to get them I will sincerely appreciate it.

Then, I will develop a sort of business proposal to be presented to the Governor. If any of you want to help with the development and review of this proposal, please email me at laborcertification@yahoo.com

I have some friends in the Democratic Party and have asked them to help me set up a meeting with the Governor. If anyone is interested in attending, please let me know.

We have to present a strong and united front, otherwise they will continue to ignore us.

They are already working on it...

Titan01 posted an interesting link about the DOL budget. Please follow the link and it seems the budget increases 11 times (5 million to 55 million USD) and the backlogs are specifically mentioned. It appears that the intention is to clear these backlogs within 2 years. I am sure we would like it be less than that but its not bad compared DOL not reacting to this mess at all ....

And, I believe this budget year starts from Oct. 2003...???

I think they might have had a similar increase this year as well

I seem to remember there being some similar extra allocation this year 2003 as well. Nice to know they are putting some $ behind the effort.

Thanks for your reply PradK. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I applied for my GC in May'03 in VA-Regular for Labor. The way things are, I don't see my getting the GC before 4 yrs!!
