Don't worry about the lack of response. Sometimes it is easy to make people motivated about causes, sometimes it is difficult. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't not try to make a difference.
Once people start seeing the changes you are heralding, they will automatically join you in your cause. You must over come the initial lethargy by making things very easy for them to join and reducing the number of steps between them and direct action.
Here is a suggestion I put forth for organising a show of hands campaign for Congressmen in the CSC forum:
1. Each volunteer, take the responsibility of finding out the next date of town meeting with his/her representative.
2. Post the information along with clear instructions as to directions and a central place to meet.
3. Request RSVP's from other show of hands volunteers and viola you have organization complete.
The above should make the task of meeting Congressmen VERY easy. There is no need for elaborate meetings or exchange of information. We have been working on the above model in California and I am happy to say it has been working very well. None of us needs to contribute more time than what is minimally required.
