usps charged me wrong fees (less fees), what will happen now?

I am in trouble ... my spouse has to travel in Jan and we have to apply for Visa which will take 1 to 2 weeks and all these holidays coming in Nov and Dec it looks tough now because usps guy messed up and charged me wrong fee.

We have already booked ticket and trip was planned after we applied for non-expedite passport service.

I applied for passports for me and my spouse at usps counter and this guy charged be $50 as execution fees which I paid by credit card and got receipt. He also took a personal check for $150 and attached it to one of the forms (mine) and said this will cover both applications.

Now problem is I applied for both passport book + card so check should have been $75+$20 x 2 application = $190 instead of $75 x2 = $150 which I was charged.

What will happen to my applications?
1. Will I get two passport books + 2 cards.
2. Will I get two passport books only.
3. One of the application will be return. if yes, which one? $150 check was attached to my form
4. Both application will get rejected. And I will be asked to pay proper fees again and no execution fees again.

Call the passport office and tell the situation. And ask what can be done. If you can send additional $40 check? or if they can cancel your request for passport card?

Any idea which number should I call?
My application doesn't show yet in online tracker, its been 6 days I applied last Thursday Nov12th.
Check has also not been cashed.

When I called (my case was processed at passport agency), I insisted on knowing the status before going to pick it up - the rep (general rep, not the agency) was able to take my SSN and confirm the status. I am not sure if they have more visibility than us, but I suspect they do. Call and talk to them.

Don't worry about sending check they will charge your bank account electronically and the right amount.
Make sure you call them and double check.

You can expedite it by phone and pay any associated fees due to it by credit card right there.
They are very felixible, you should be okay.
 
received email today passport is in mail and you should receive by 12/09.
I didn't expedite and/or paid for extra card ... they are sending passport book.
