using a lawyer

I had bad experience with my lawyer. The first thing is that i wanted to file my paper work for my self but everyone convinced me otherwise.:mad:

She was so negligent that I gave her my stuff in July and she did sthg wrong and had to re send it. Eventually she sent some of it in July and the other in september when I specifically asked for them to be file concurrently. Therefore there was a major set back for my work permit and she did not even give me an explanation.

Now she has the nerve to inform me that she will be going to the interview with me. I immediately wrote her back and tell her in a nutshell no. I am pretty comfortable going by myself since my case was a straightforward case anyway and I have been preparing for this interview over a month now.

My question to you guys is : Do you believe that it is better the IO see a lawyer with you or it does not make a difference and it is a waste of cash?
 
if your case is pretty simple and you have enough evidence, there is no need for a lawyer... waste of money.

ps: fire this lawyer's butt already.
 
Sue your immigration lawyer for mental distress. Oh wait, you'd have to hire another lawyer for that. Nevermind!

Seriously, if an amount were deducted from their legal fees everytime they make a mistake, I think some lawyers would end up paying you instead of the other way around.
 
Immigration attorneys are amazing. Mine tried to charge me for scheduling an InfoPass appointment for me and then showed up 15 minutes late. Her response:

"You know I print these things out, but I never read them."

Profound words of widsom right there. Needless to say, I fired that attorney after the appointment.

I would still keep the attorney around just in case anything happens. I've always been over-cautious about everything in my life. And in my experience, the immigration interview is very arbitrary and depends on the mood of the interviewer as well as the nature of your case. You never know what might happen.
 
If an interviewer has the choice of grilling an applicant they will choose the applicant who doesnt have an attorney 100% of the time i would think.Who wants to get into an argument with a lawyer for gods sake?Nobody.

My lawyer was present for my interview.The interviewer asked my lawyer if he was representing me and he said yes.With that the interviewer asked my wife and me basic questions and the interview was over in 15mins i think.Interviewer said I passed.Got the gc a month later.
Well worth it even tho my lawyer did forget a few things in the application.

Trust me when I tell you that if an IO wants to grill you, a lawyer will not be a deterrent since they are use to having them present during interviews. As far as I see, they merely sit there like a spectator and applicants get a more comfort with their presence. I am not doubting that will not have some impact but not the degree that you are claiming.
 
Well then you have your answer it seems.
I dont know how the sytem works as well as some here.I am just stating that lawyers are a pain for anybody to deal with.
