Use of PO Box as the Mailing Address

I submitted N-400 last August and is still waiting for the IL. I have to move at the end of this month. I plan to move within the same district office.

The only problem is that after I move, I may have to travel outside of the country frequently. It will be difficult to ask friend to come to my house to check the mail. However, I can rent a PO box and use the PO box as the mailing address.

I have the following questions:

1. Is PO Box acceptable by the USCIS?

2. If the PO Box is not in the same zip code as your home address? Will this cause any problems? I will try to use a PO box close to my friend's house so it will be convenient for him to check up the mail. The mailing address and home address shall be within the same USCIS district office as I am currently living at.

3. Will it be practical to use my friend's address as the mailing address? I want to be honest about my home address, especially if they ask for any utility bill, credit card bill, etc.

Thank you for any suggestions.

P.O. Box is not acceptable as home address. It can only be used as a mailing address. Some immigration forms (including N-400), it is possible for you to use different mailing and home address when you submit them initially. However, usually, USCIS system does not distinguish mailing and home address. Thus, I am not sure if you can safely change your mailing address without changing the home address by default if you do it over the phone or net. Perhaps you'll have to do it in person at an infopass.
