USCIS Announces Temporary Suspension of Premium Processing Service for
Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien WorkerWASHINGTON – Effective July 2, 2007, USCIS is announcing the temporary suspension of Premium Processing Service for Form I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, in accordance with 8 CFR 103.2(f)(2). USCIS anticipates a substantial increase in the number of petitioning employers that will file Form I-140 petitions requesting Premium Processing Service as of July 2, 2007. This is due to pent up demand for preference visa categories for which visas will become available according to the Department of State July 2007 Visa Bulletin. The volume of Form I-140 petitions filed that request Premium Process Service is expected to exceed USCIS’ capacity to provide the Premium Process Service according to the Premium Process Service program guidelines.
Premium Processing Service guarantees that within 15 calendar days of receipt of a petition, USCIS will issue either an approval notice, a notice of intent to deny, a request for evidence or open an investigation for fraud or misrepresentation.
This suspension will last for 30 days beginning on July 2, 2007 and ending on August 1, 2007. During this timeframe, USCIS will determine whether it is able to process these cases within 15 calendar days of receipt. If so, Premium Processing Service will once again be made available for Form I-140 petitions.

Good ChrisV. You did the right thing. I anticipated this. USCIS is going to be flooded with lot of concurrent 140 and 485s. I am sure they wouldn't be able to process that many applications under PP.
 
Hi!

Sorry for the late update. I was abroad for my work and I'm just back in the US.

So, I filed PP on June 29 from the Chicago Airport ;) on my way to my meeting in Europe. For some reason, I had troubles opening the PP form. I filled it, checked carefully the pages before submitting it, and paid the $1000.

On the pdf file I got, I found that a box, not visible in the pages you can look at when filing, was filled with "I-129" instead of "I-140", though my SRC code refers to my I-140 petition filed a few days earlier.

Well, I sent an email right away to the USCIS...

After a few back and forth messages with the USCIS, whre we had a hard time finding out what had happened and why they would not link my PP form to my I-140 petition, both sides understood the problem:
- PP was not available for I-140 already on June 29, which I did not know and was not advertised by the USCIS.
- I probably got the form open anyway by fiddling around with the various pop-up menus, one of them an I-129

I got my $1000 back and no PP for my I-140. No big deal though as there is no hurry anyway in my case.
