USCIS lying in Receipting update

People who's applications reached NSC on July 2nd are still being issued receipt notices at NSC (receipt numbers starting with LIN) . But accroding to their receipting update they are done issuing receipts at NSC for July 2nd filers long back. This is so frustrating...

Oh well, the service centers received about 300,000 applications in July 2, 2007 alone. The receipt notice delivery (for July 2 filers) is expected to be staggered over months. Once again I know many July 2 filers still waiting for receipt notices.

This is my observation only, not a fact gleaned from someplace: the processing date presented by USCIS for any type of application does not mean that all applications prior to the published date have been processed.

It only means that a particular service center has processed atleast one application that has the published processing date.

Thats what I heard from my lawyer. The processing dates does not mean that all applications prior to that date have been processed already. I am a July 2nd/NSC filer and no receipts yet. I know many more that haven't received anything as yet either.

// The processing dates does not mean that all applications prior to that date have been processed already

Then what does that mean ?

It simply means that USCIS is trying to put a *good face* by publishing
future dates. A July 24th date sounds better than a July 2nd date :)

The problem is the way things are working...here's an example...

Assume u have 100 stacks of applications (all sorted)
- You give the first 20 stacks to 20 people
- Then after a few days you assign 10 more people to receipting
- You give the next 10 stacks to the new 10 people.

Result: The new 10 people start giving out receipt for later dates (July 24th)
while the initial 20 people are still processing the July 2nd stacks.

From a process point of view, USICS has done well in putting more people
behind receipting. It may not be fair.....but what did u expect with dates
being current for everyone.

Please don't argue about how the receipting process could have been
re-organized to ensure that first-come-first are receipted first. This is
not an ideal world.

my 2 cents.

I agree with what you say.

I hope that they are trying to process as many as possible with the resources they have.

There is no point in them trying to "manually" re-organize their receipting process. It will only result in more delays.

Agreed, recipting and case processing are 2 independent things. The receipting processing need not be as per PD which requires manual sorting the cases and thus consuming time.
