USCIS is giving me hard time...please help

Hi. I've been married twice and just had my adjustment of status interview. Everything went well, except for the fact that USCIS is now asking me to provide more proof about my previous divorce. You see, I lived in California with my ex-wife, but when we were seperated, I was thinking about moving to Nevada. I lived with some friends there, and it was there where I filed for divorce. However things changed when I met my new wife, and I decided to move back to California.

USCIS is now asking for proof of my residency in Nevada. The family court in Nevada usually use an affidavit of residency as a proof of residency, but USCIS told me in a letter that they want accept this, and that I have to give them a phone bill or a gas bill to prove my residency in Nevada. They said the affidavit of residency is not acceptable.

Can they do this? I mean my divorce was final and legal through the court system in Nevada, why is USCIS giving me such hard time with this? Did somebody face this problem before with USCIS? What shuld I do? Like I said, I was living with a friend, and that's why I had no bills in my name.

Help please.

Do you have any credit card transactions in Nevada, it should be on your statement. Same with debit cards. Cell phone bills. Any letters you received at your friends place addressed to you at nevada. Talk to a lawyer the ymay be able to help you out on this one.

Do you were working in Nevada? They need statements to proof that you were in Nevada in that period of time. Your cellphone company can help, btw for how long you live in Nevada?
It is really weird since what it counts for your divorce is the divorce decree not where you were living.

good luck,
