USCIS emails folks??

Hi,

I've seen quite a few mentions here that people have received emails from the USCIS with updates and so on. My husband and I just mailed my 485 package and I don't recall any of the forms where they ask you for your email. (Did I miss something?) How do you guys get them to email you? Is there anything I should do to send them my email info? Also, how does one first hear back from them about whether they have received your stuff? Is there any way to check things online at the USCIS website now, or do I have to wait for something in the mail.

Go to www.uscis.gov than case status online than set up an account and follow the instructions. If you put your receipt numbers in yolur portfolio leits they will send you e-mails whenever something happen with your case. Good luck!
