Guys and Gals,

I found this on immigration-law.com. Thought it was interesting ...

According to the USCIS Director, as of the end of July 2006, there were approximately 1.1 million backlog cases of immigration benefit petitions and applications. Out of the total backlog cases, nearly ONE MILLION cases are backlogged for reasons outside of USCIS control such as unavailable visa numbers or customer induced delays, and the remaining 140,000 cases are backlogged because of the USCIS processing delays.

So the USCIS can currently work on only .1 million of 1.1 million pending cases. This just shows the extent of the ridiculous laws and policies of the DOL, DOS and USCIS.

Ah, ah

It is a show. That's what I call it. The entire thing is just a show from USCIS.

when i think of USCIS........i get the image of bunch of high schoolers working in a garage........throwing darts to fetch the next file........, taking alteast 10-15 smoke breaks.......4-5 coffee breaks........a good lunch break.......having a good chat at the water cooler.....and when it is almost time to go home(30 mins before)...oh shit they may have to put the file back and throw dart again tomorrow morning...

believe it or not.....this above is a true way....how some of the Public sectors in india work (i have witnessed them for couple of months...). but back there they did not had anything to do over here uscis has no pressure from anyone to get their act together....

06 Annual Report to Congress by USCIS

If you look at this, there are real serious problems with overburdened USCIS. Its like undoing countless knots while more knots develop.

Padosan,

We are at the hands of a totally broken system where anything can happen at anytime. It is truly scary. I don't think this system can or will ever be fixed. All we can hope for is to get out of it in one piece. I firmly believe that its pure fate and luck from this point on. Lets see what our luck turns out to be ...

USCIS is one of the least funded gov agencies from the budget. Given that there are so many visa categories (I am not talking only EB numbers), and their headcount being small, it's only going to get worse. I don't know if anything better happened since they are part of Homeland Security now, maybe worse!
