USCIS has Changed Description Of Online Message for all of the cases for everyone i think. Check online today.
Bina kisi matlab ka change karate hai aur jo chahiye wo case status nahi badalate i.e Approved ? NOt Approved

Isn't this great !!!. Lot of new information like mycase is still pending (ah, what a surprise!), my case is received on mm/dd/yy(thank god, i did not loose it the mail), my case in a service center(just can't be more helpful). Sure this visa distribution is outsourced thats why we see different frontend message for the same status code. Wonder how many millions are spent on this important software upgrade. Atleast two hundred people would have worked from infosys on this project.

Change in I-485 description

Besides adding the location of my application and date. they also added the following information:

"You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done."

This didnt use to be there. Did anyone else see the timeline added to their case status description. My LUD did not change though.

It seems that there are some changes in the Description:

Current Status: Fingerprints review completed.

Review of the fingerprints taken relating to this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS has been completed. Processing of this case continues. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Does it mean Name Check still pending???

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Document OTHER THAN CARD manufactured and mailed.
On January 2, 2005, we mailed the document we manufactured based on our earlier approval of this case, and mailed it to the address on we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.

Looks like the USCIS has outsourced their manufacturing division to Karzai Land...

Never knew, that USCIS is also in business of manufacturing....

Well there are two meaning of the word manufacture ---
1> To make or process (a raw material) into a finished product, especially by means of a large-scale industrial operation.

So does that mean -- when USCIS had to send a document -- they would actually start with the wood pulp -- make paper -- print on it and mail it to us. .. Might be some security issues .. they do not want paper from elsewhere :)

2> To concoct or invent; fabricate: manufacture an excuse.
This one looks correct ???? hmm for us even a fabricated GC would be good enough as long as it comes from USCIS ..

changed message

My online message changed too. Does it mean anything at all or are they just updating the system? Mine goes like this: On_________ we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates.

mine too...

My status changed as
"Current Status: Fingerprints review completed."

Review of the fingerprints taken relating to this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS has been completed. Processing of this case continues.

Does that mean my background check is completed?

mine too

My message also has timeline information. ..

"On May 6, 2005, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed," ...

Guys and Gals,

I read a few months ago that the USCIS was going to change its online updates to provide more detailed information about case status. I guess we are seeing those changes now. I checked on mine and my wifes 485 messages and both have changed. My wife had an RFE last year and the update status the 60 day thing. My 485 had been wrongly transferred to a local office and the update had earlier stated that my case was received back in TSC. Now it says that my case has been transferred back to TSC.

I think these updates are better than previous ones. Atleast they spell out exactly where the case is and a little more detail.

regards,

saras

Current Status

I have completed my I-485 interview in July 2005. Did not get visa stamp due to visa unavailability.

OLD Current status : blank...

NEW Current Status: Cas has been sent for standard interview.

Do u think I should call them and inform that I have completed my interview?

Pl reply.

I-130 revoked, green card in a mail?

What do you think about this situation? It happened to one of my friends who had his marriage based case pending for over 5 years now.

"On November 13, 2006, we mailed the document we manufactured based on our earlier approval of this case, and mailed it to the address on we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service."

Called Customer Service. They said "Congratulations, you will be receiving welcome letter soon." It was kind of hard to believe that finally something was done regarding the case, so he insisted talking to an immigration officer. The officer advised him that on his system is showing that case is denied, however online message is showing that case is approved. The officer said to wait for 30 days. The problem is that on November 17th 2 letters were received saying that petitioner (wife) revoked I-130 that was approved already in 1998 and therefore I-485 was denied. Motion to re-open has to be filed within 30 days of this notice.

Have you ever hear about denial or approval from uscis at the same time?

I called USCIS this morning. I had same message with a an old date on my I-485.

Initially the operator told me that my case is approved long back. But later an officer told me that my case is still pending. As I understood, the word 'approval' is some how wrong and making us all crazy. Even USCIS representatives we initially talk are also confused. The word 'approval' should be read as 'registration/approval' in my case as my message is for registration. Yours might be the other thing. I do not know who wrote these generic messages in wrong. But I trust that USCIS may correct them at some point of time...very soon...
