USCIS - Asylum Division Quarterly Stakeholder Meeting Updates

Hi All,

USCIS has finally updated its website with the recent statistics and workload for all its asylum offices. It's a worth read document for all. See the link below.

Waz!

It was not a recent update. It was available before. I knew about it a few month ago. its better to have the statistics for recent 3 month (July-September), in order to see of the workload is going up or down. If we see that the workload was reduced during last three month we will have some hope, that they are going to clear out the backlog. But according to this statistics the backlog is rising as you can see. their next meeting is scheduled in 11/22/2013. So I think after that they will update the statistics for last 3-4 month and we will see the picture of the backlog.

Thank you Waz for this information. As you see, LA office is the most busiest with over 7000 cases pending. I guess by 2025 we will recieve our interview invitations.

Hi Asylum 2012,
if I am not mistaken you are waiting to be interviewed in Anaheim office right?
and back in May 2013, you said you are close to 190 days waiting for interview,
are you still waiting for interview today?
if that so, that mean you had been waiting for interview more than 340 days (almost 1 year !!!)...
had you wrote a letter or go to anaheim office and directly talk to them to ask ?
perhaps they had mail your letter and it did not arrive at your address...

You are right, MWDW, I am waiting for 1 year at Anaheim office. I used to call them every 3 weeks, one month to make sure I didn't miss invitation. So far, nothing. Last time I called a week ago, they informed me that my case is pending, everything is good, just wait. And like this I understand that they schedule first in, first out... Which means as more as you wait, as more far you are from the interview date.

I try to call yesterday,
but when I press "0" to speak to the operator,
it do not let me get through and yet back to the automated menu...
apparently they would not want to accept phone calls anymore...
perhaps they got way too many phone calls asking for status update...

Try today, I think they don't work on Wednesday, or don't accept applicants requests, smth like that. They also don't have interview on Wednesdays.

Actually, I always call them on Wednesday (in the past),
because Wednesday is suppose to be their "open house" day, meaning they don't have any interview but they accept people
who personally came or walk into the office asking for information.
but I will try again later today or tomorrow :)

Thanks :)

Same thing happened to me, i have been trying to call them but no luck. Mine is in san francisco office. I havent been able to talk to them even once.

I applied at Chicago office and I have been calling them every once a month to ask them about my case. It has been over 160 days and counting. Every time I call them they tell me they have a huge backlog and ask me to do an inquiry by email. Last week the lady was so kind to explain to me that they currently are only able to schedule 20% of the interviews. By the look of things we may end up getting our interviews in 2020...

I am changing my mind, after my nice experience in the office.

Officers are nice. I recommend everyone to inquire at least you will face possible interview officers or people who are dealing with your cases. Asking question is everyone's right.
