Usage of EAD ?

Hi, can i use EAD if my I-140/485 is pending for more than 6 months ? Will there be any drawbacks of using EAD without approval of I140?

Jharkhandi & will be there.........pls reply. I appreciate ur inputs.
 
Absolutely no problem if you use EAD. The only problem that you might come across is when I140 has got RFE or rejected. But mostly people start using it after 6 months or if I140 gets approved, or if they have no time left on H1B period and no hopes of extension.

But i work for company A on H1B..............and I-140/485 was filed through company B. So, can i use that EAD for working at company A ?
 
The EAD that you got from Company B, can be used against any employer if its a permanent position with Company A, for your case.

Once you use EAD you have abandoned your H1B status the same day.
