US Passport from deceased parent

1. My mother was born in Staten Island around 80 years ago
2. She died 5 years ago
3. I was born in Ireland (and always lived there/UK) and never applied for US passport

Is it possible I can attain a US passport through my (deceased) mother?

Depends on when you were born, your mother's marital status when you were born, how long she lived in the US before your birth, and whether you have documents to prove those facts.
