US Passport after the Citizenship

What are the procedures to apply for the US passport after the
citizenship interview ?

Can I apply on the same day after the Oath ?

Does anybody know how long it takes in New Jersey ?

Can I apply for my children (minors) without waiting for my passport issuance and how long it takes for them to get the passport?

I would really appreciate If anybody from NJ (who had recently got the citizenship and passport) respond at the earliest.

Many thanks in advance

Yes you can apply on the same day. In fact, the Newark office gives you the passport application form and voter registration form right after you take the oath.

I got my passport in seven days with expedited processing. I know another person on this forum who also got in seven days without expedited processing. also, in some cases, if you have pending travel (confirmed tickets), you can make an appointment with passport agency and get a passport same day or within 24 hours.

I live in NJ, but applied at a Post Office in NYC.

If you apply on the same day, make sure you make a copy of the Natz cert. You have to send in the original with your passport application.

Many thanks to Ami and Ravi.

Do I need to wait for my passport to apply for my children's (minors) passport ? OR can I apply for them along with me on the same day after oath ?

The post office I went to in Santa Clara CA (Agnew) was able to process all our three passports with two naturalization certificates. The acceptance agent made a photocopy of my wife's certificate and somewhat certified it, then she included that copy in my child's application. So, if you want to do all at once it would pay to drop by your post office ahead of time and ask them if they would do it that way. I did that and found out ahead of time that it was going to work as expected. Remember that the children have to be present at the time of the application.
