My mom applied for US Naturalization in 1997. Sometime in the year 2001 she received a notice for interview from the INS. She and I went to the nearest INS office and requested a change of INS office location for the interview. The immigration officer took the notice of interview papers. She did not have a copy for herself.
I made several phone calls to the INS customer service to follow up the status of my mom's naturalization application. Each time I called I was told that the INS will send my mom a letter about the inquiry. She never received a letter from the INS. In March 2003, I went to the nearest INS office to inquire about the status of her application. According to their computer record, my mom's case is closed. The INS officer do not have any other information.
My mom is now 81 years old and the health condition is fair. Any suggestion from this forum how to help my mom reactivate her case without going through the process of applying for the naturaliztion and paying the fees. Thanks.
