US may eliminate H1-B Visa

Eliminating H1 visa

i don't believe that abolishing H1 working visa will be approved because majority of the people in the US are immigrants...

US depends a lot to immigrants and they owe a lot to them, if not for them then there is no US...

i guess the most sensible thing to do at this tough time is to limit the number of people immigrating, by percentage of nationalities...

H1B

it is very very premature yet...

there are usually significant compromises made as it winds its way thru the various committees...... but compromises will be on account of lobbying by employers and not because the US is this great country of immigrants - c'mon get real --

To JALMA

Hi Jalma,
I don't think "not sending troops" has anything to do with abolishing H1. I think the higher unemployment may be the suitable reason.
Still, employers need H1 workers. If they reduce the H1-B quota, we may see more out-sourcing. This may in turn lead to more unemployment.
So, they have to be careful about making the right decision.
Employers are pretty smart people! Look at intel, microsoft, cisco, sun, oracle, cadence. Everyone is hiring like crazy for India. You may have read about siliconindia event for opportunities in india.

What u say?

employers

The anti h1b campaign has absolutely nothing to do with if employers want the program or not. It has everything to do with US citizens facing a seriously slack employment market and blaming H1b workers for it. In fact the campaign is very much against foreign workers and employers who chose to employ them

With the economy being the way it is this issue appears to be getting increasing traction.
