Hello.

I got my GC at the November 1,2006 throught the asylum.(Category AS6)

I have domestic partner or common law(Term is changing depending the country) and we are living together more for two years and she is Canadian.

As long as if you live with Canadian citizen on the outside of the country you meet the residency requirement.

Let me tell you topics;

-I dont want to intent to live in Canada.(At least for now)
-I would like to run business with some of the my firends who are living in Canada
-I would like to avoid all permit works with getting Canadian PR?

Can you please tell me your advise if I apply how affect my life and status in USA?
(I don't want to take any risk.If there is I can get after US Citizenship)

Thanks for your responde.

If you are out of U.S for more than 6 months, you can lose your PR in the U.S. Its as simple as that. There are exceptions where you need to get a Rentry Permit if you are out for more than 6 months..but at the Port of Entry, they will ask you how long and why. If you tell them, "I am a PR of another country", most likely the officer will recommend the USCIS to take your GC back.

So you have to decide what you want to do? Its entirely ok to visit your common-law partner but if you are "living" with her, it has to be for some time right? Do you consider yourself permanent in U.S or Canada?

The question is not as to what you can do in Canada..the question is what you need to do to maintain your PR in U.S.

I am living in USA with my common law.She is Canadian citizen and her N-400 is pending right now.

Because of that I will be living in USA anyway.I dont want to go anywhere. The only purpose If I need to make some business in Canada it would be better to have PR rather then to get permit.

Advise?

I am doing business in USA.I am working for one of the company on my professional and I have my own company also.

So you have no problem..Have a companion who is a PR, have a job..have a GC....Why do u want to move to canada?????????

Ppl whoose GC is in limbo or other reasons like they can't bring their spouses usually take that route..

The grass always looks greener on the other side..so stay here and make your future. There is no country better than United States of America.

Freedom63: Here are my two cents:

I have seen individuals who have US citizenship and Canadian Greencard. Also I have seen individuals with US citizenship and Canadian citizenship.

By US law an individual may have a Canadian Citizenship, and American Greencard, but he can not have Canadian Citizenship and American citizenship at the same time. By Canadian law, and individaul may have two citizenship without problem. For instance, an individual may have american citizenship and canadian citizenship.

The individuals that had both American and canadian citizenship got it through fraugelent. Once they are caught by American authorities, they were arrested for a few days, and they were granted choices either to have american or canadian. they couldn't have both. but they were not charged with any crime. once they chose one of them, the other one was cancelled and they were set free.

Back to your case, I have once worked a lady. She came from Canada and she had greencard at the time. She moved to US. I don't know, but she got a greencard and american citizenship. She told me that she had a canadian greencard and US government was aware of it. she further told me that she could become canadain citizen but can retain her canadian greencard.

Even though my experience is based on anecdottal which doesn't substitute for fact of law, I think you can have both greencards safely if don't lie or hide anything. If you tell both canadian authorities and US authorities and you qualify both I don't think you will have problem.

Good luck

Hi Faysal.

I am not agree with you in term of the US law.If you got your Canadian citizenship before tahn US citizenship it's okay for US immigration law.

Do you mean that if one gets Canadian citizenship then he can get American citizenship, which means an individual may both citizens in the USA.

You may completely disagree with me. I have seen few cases, and the context in which they arise may be different; therefore, I can be 100% wrong
