Hello Members,

I’m stuck in India from last two months. In fact I was here(INDIA) for two weeks vacation(in between project).
What happened is…..
I went to interview to KOLKATA consulate for visa stamping first week of MAY first issued me 221(g) requesting relation of my employer with the client and letter from client. Once I received the docs via FedEx I revisited the Consulate. The person in counter2 (desi) asked for all my docs and he checked with the VO next counter (at that moment she is helping someone) and taken my passport, DD and approved I797 (without I-94) and said I would receive my passport within 2 to 3 days. It’s almost 2 months, when I called the consulate they said my case is in administrative processing.

What I don’t understand is, if it’s really administrative processing they might have issued me one more new 221(g) mentioning that it is under administrative processing.

So as advised in our forum, I called DOS 202-663-1225, press 0 and visa officer answered the phone. I really thank her, she is very nice and polite in answering me. Officer asked my passport no. and told me that it shows my case in administrative processing and if I have submitted all the requested docs, I said yes. Officer told that my case in not with DOS i.e. USA. Officer asked me to speak with the US Consulate in Kolkata. But here in INDIA I’m not giving a chance to schedule an appointment with the VO.

Could someone help me… if my case is not with DOS. Is there any other immigration departments in USA where my case was being processed. Please let me know.
The reason I’m very curious to know is, I doubt that US Consulate misplaced my passport. Because they have not issued me pink slip and the officer/person in counter2 told me that I would receive in 2 to 3 days?

Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

I called the Consulate and told them that i was told that my case was not pending in USA. The Desi Officer told yes that's right, we are having your documents and would get back to you once the processing is done. It's really frustrating, what kind of Admin process they can do in India? Anyone experienced same. Please share.

Thanks

I had same situation. My wife had been to india for 1 month vacation ended up having 4 months vacation with lots of stress. i work for a consulting company but my 2003 w2 showed less income as i was laid off and then i joined consulting company i did get a project from consulting company but was in dec 2003 so not much income.luckily i had good income in 2004 so i was asked photos of client site and w2 forms of all years of my stay in US.Even photos of consulting company .but the nightmare didnt end with sending these documents. she had to go to chennai consulate 2 times. 2nd time she asked the VO can she post the documents and was told yes.after posting it took her 1 month to get the stamp and in b/n they even told the case is in administrative processing .what administrative processing they pick up any case and put it to that. when all the documents are right shudnt they issue the visa and save lot of stress.
so now the situation is i dont want to leave the country without Advance Parole to avoid the stress of visa stamping..

thanks for sharing your experience.

I'm stuck in India now, and i'm really worried i may loose my job at client place.
I'm wondering what kind of admin process they do in India? Why don't they expedite the process, definitely they know that we may loose the job if we don't report back to work on time.

Thanks
