Hi,
I am on H1 visa and my wife is on H4..we came to US 4 months back and have to stay here for 2 years. Now my wife is pregnant. We are not willing to stay in US in future(i,e after 2 years).I heard that if a kid is born in US and when we go back to india,we need to pay the NRI fee for the Kid education. Is it true.If we take dual citizenship can we overcome the NRI fee.
Is it better to send my wife back to india right noe ? please suggest me something as there is no time ... Please post the advantages and disadvantages of dual citizenship also ?

Thanks,

First things first, can your wife travel overseas? Secondly, dual citizenship is not in effect (PIO card does not provide citizenship rights).

Yes there are long term aspects of the country of birth, the choice is yours, please plan accordingly.

Even after the baby's birth in the US, I believe you can apply for Indian citizenship. It's up to you whether or not you want to accept US citizenship.
I don't think the baby will automatically become an American citizen and the Indian government will deny Indian citizenship.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as the US government is concerned, your baby born on US soil is automatically a US citizen. You will have to take some affirmative steps to abandon that citizenship.

Also, the US government does not care one way or the other about what other citizenship the baby may possess. The Indian government does care, however - that is the part you will need to research.
