Hi everyone.
I'm a US citizen by birth. I've been married to my wife, Taiwanese, for three years now, and we have two kids, both of whom have both US and Taiwanese passports. We've lived in Taiwan since getting married, but now plan to move back to the US for my new job this summer.
My wife has a 5 year tourist visa that is still valid. We have been planning on traveling to the US as tourists, as we have for the past three summers (short trips), then applying submitting her I-130 when we get there. However, a recent conversation with a friend has made me think that we might want to submit that now, before we fly to the US.
Our travel plans are set for the end of June, a trip we originally planned to be just for the summer, like our trips to visit family for the past three years. I was only offered this job a week ago, so I couldn't really have submitted the form earlier. I'm really hoping this doesn't mess with our plans to travel to the US this summer. Will submitting, or not submitting, the form (and the fee or course) before we travel affect our plans? What should we do?
Thanks!
