I have been seeing few discussions on carrying baby for CP. My kid is born in US and I have not included him in any of the details. Do I have to carry him for the interview and what are the details I need to take along with me.

Would appreciate an early reply.

No u don't, if u have somebody to take care of them back home, better not to take them during interview - it's not a kid's job- :) !!!
But remember to carry their passport and birth certificate.
cheers!!

Thanks Ranen. Can you tell me why do we have to carry his passport and birth certificate? Do they make an entry somewhere?

Thanks,

Venkat.

I believe its just to make sure you are not goofing up by not applying for an IV for a kid who should actually have got one.

Hi Moulin,

Sorry I did not get your statement. My question is when my kid is American citizen what does he have to do with me getting IV? Why do I have to carry his passport and birth certificate when both are issued by USA.

Looks like I am missing something here. Pls enlighten.

The consulate wants to be sure that the kid is a US citizen because if he is not, then they need to issue him an IV so that he can accompany you. They feel that you may be mistaken [if your kid was a non-us citizen] that he did not need an IV and just want to verify the facts so that they do not deny an otherwise eligible [not true in your case] an IV.

Yes venkat,
Moulin is right. They did confirm my kid's US citizenship at the time of interview. Better to carry your kid with you. Atleast that will remain as extra evidance for your long stay in US:)

sardao,
That's a good one. I have twin babies who r US citizen, so my appeal would be doubly intensed !!! - :)
cheers!!

You will have to list all your children, whether they are US citizen or not. Non US citizen children will also each need separate DS-230 forms filled out.

Consulate Reply

I have posed the foll. question to Chennai Consulate:

My kid is born in
US, a US Citizen and 11 months old. Could you please
tell me whether

1) Do I need to bring any of his documents such as
passport, birth certificate.

2) Do I have to bring the kid for the Interview?

Really appreciate your reply.

This is what they have replied:

Not necessary.

I am not sure whether this reply apply to both my questions. I think so.
