Does anyone have information on whether US and Canada immigration databases are synchronized ?

Or if US immigration folks have access to Canadian database and or vise versa.

I would imagine it would become very easy for them to see who applied where for what status and thats just SCARY !!

I'm not an expert, but I don't think that's true. On all Canada application papers it clearly says that the information is for the sole purposes of the Canadian government. It would probably be big time illegal for them to share that info with anyone. Consequently, I don't think one has anything to do with the other. This is just my 'opinion', not a fact, though

They may not be "synchronized" but there is a lot more "information sharing" between canada and US after 911 and specifically when you apply for GC,PR and citizenship in any of the countries , the information is verified by both goverments .

Try filing for "Nexus" border pass and see . They see both the countries info from 1 PC and give you the pass and have a common fingerprinting database.

When you are exchanging Driving licenses , the people in canada can see your US driving record. This was done when I changed my US DL for a canadian one .

Also there have been talks for shaing of info for "tax evasion" purposes between canada and US as a lot of people do not pay taxes to canada while showing residency there. Search for this on CCRA website and you will get the info.

Upto what more extent , I don't know .
