US and Canada GC process at the same time.

Can one apply for Canada GC while US GC is in process? Will applying for Canada GC have any negative impacts on US GC process? Thanks!

Jay,

Yes, one can apply for Canadian Immigration while applying for US PR. However you have to maintain the residency requirements imposed by each country. If you are able to fulfill these requirements, then there shouldn;t be any issues. However I have a friend who has a GC and Canadian landed immigrant status. While crossing the border, he was warned by the INS that he has to decide which PR status he would like to keep. So this is a touchy issue, and should be discussed with a US and Canadian immigration attorney.
