urgent - travel to india no I485 receipt yet

is it ok to travel to india on valid h1, without I485 receipt??
my lawyer says you can, and dont mention anything of 485 at the port of entry.
I saw a lot of postings here and on internet that original I485 receipt is required, otherwise AOS can get cancelled??

My lawyer is saying I cannot go with out receipt. I had to change my ticket for that.

i talked to an IIO, he said I can travel without the receipt.
you can call an IIO can confirm.

I heard the same thing from my attorney. I had to cancel my tickets too.

I mailed my packet on 9/27 and still no receipt. When did you mail it in?

I heard same from my lawyer, not to go without receipt.
Anyway I recd my receipt on 11/02/00 , RD 09/27/00 ND 10/25/00
