URGENT: Sanity check regarding documents for N-400 application

Hello folks,
My mother is applying for her US citizenship (form N-400).
She has been a lawful permanent resident for more than 5 years. I
would like to hear from people in this situation about common pitfalls
to avoid during the application process. Also, two questions:

1) From pages 52 and 53 at the following web site:

http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/natz/English.pdf

If I am reading this right, I think she needs only to submit 3 things with her N-=400 (photocopy of green card, photographs, and check). She does not need to send a copy of her passport. Correct? She is applying on her own, not through marriage to US citizen.

2) The following USCIS flier states that frontal passport size photos
are now accepted with the application. Is this still accurate?

http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/newsrels/04_08_02Photo_flyer.pdf

Would appreciate prompt responses as I plan on sending the application very shortly.
Thank you!

1) Yes (both front and back of green card). Doesn't hurt sending in copies of pages from passport that have POE stamps, as proof for travel dates.

2) Yes.

I disagree. Why would you want to send them anything they did not ask for?

There's no need to send passport pages -- I filed my application without sending them and I'm now a citizen.

Good luck!
