Dear all,

i have an urgent question. My GC will expire in June, 2008. I know i need to file I-90 for GC renewal. In addition, i know i can go to local USCIS and get a stamp of evidence of GC holder. (b/c i will travel outside the State for several months)However, i am not sure some IMPORTANT processes.
i review different discussion boards, they have different answers. hence, i hope some one who has experience and give me some accurate advice.
1. when will i can go to local UCSIC and get a temporary GC stamp on my passport? once i receive I-797 ( Notice of action) after efiling the I-90 or i need to finish my fingerprint and get the Notice of approval and then i can get the stamp?
2. How long it will take from efiling the application to biometric process now?

It's really urgent for me.
thank you all for giving me the answers.

you can only go to USCIS once you receive I-797 with your passport and you should be fine.

If you want to rush the fingerprint process, bring your airline ticket and explain that you need to do it fast because you wont be in the country on appointement date.

hope it helps

thank you sunshineman,
i also have another question. the I-797 form is the form for "
Notice of Action" or " Notice of Approve"?
because i check the infopass website and also check what the local USCIS (houston, TX) can allow us to apply in person from arranging an appointment. they have address the temporary GC stamp. They says the stuff i need to prepare. That sentence is " I-797, approval notice sent by service center or approval letter for e-551".
is this sentence means i need to receive the approval first? or i can just bring the receipt sent by USCIS and apply the temporary GC for a year valid?

thank you very much!!
