Urgent Question - Application for Citizenship

Hi,

I will be completing 4 yrs 9 months on GC middle of Nov. (and I have completed w/ all reqts for Citizenship...hence I am eligible to apply)
I have to travel to India from middle of October for (may be 3-5 months)
Is it ok if someone mail my N-400 application while I am out of USA?
Or Should I by physically present in US while mailing the N-400?

Please reply urgently so that I can decide if I should plan or not !!!

Thanks

As far as I know you can send the application when you are not in the US. However dont mail it from overseas. Ask somehere here to mail it.

In trips abroad you can mention for example

Nov 15 03 to Feb 10 04 (expected return) and submit it.

However remember this... In approx 1 month after you send the N400 you may get a fingerprinting notice. You dont want to be a no-show on that. Why not visit your local DO , (if you live in a small district this is useful) and ask them if they can hold FP for a while..... ?

Or you can get someone to receive your mail for you here and send in a request for deferment of FP

Hi All:
Here is my question:
After sending application of N-400 and done fingerprinting, can person travel for about 2-3 months to abroad and come back once he get interview call. I know answer may be Yes but what would be the consequences...would they check and ask at the interview ? If yes, do you need to give some justification....would this impact towards negative decision ?
Also have same question for the travel in between interview & oath ceremony..
Any answer would be apprecaited...
Thanks in advance

Absolutely. Just return before your interview date and remember to come back within 6 months to preserve Continious Residency.

No consequence. You must mention the trip at the time of your interview though. If its a short trip (under 6 months) then you are not breaking your CR. Period.
