Hi,

I had applied for AP via e-filing in May 2004. Got the e-filed receipt number, credit-card has been charged for the AP fee.

Have not heard anything from USCIS till now.

I have to travel outside the US for emergency reasons next week. Can I still go to my local USCIS Office for emergency AP, even though I had applied for AP 3 months ago and paid all the fees for AP ?

Any response appreciated.

Thanks,
Arjun

My wife's also in the same situation. Her e-File ND is June 1st though. No responses from USCIS yet (not even the paper receipt via mail).

I am not sure about the emergency AP. emergency AP will be issued only on humanitarian grounds or emergency diplomatic issues. You'll have to present a very strong case to get an emergency AP. Something like "visiting home country to attend a marriage" is not going to get you an emergency AP, even if your AP application is pending for 6 months at USCIS.

Thanks for the response.

If u have e-filed, u will not get any paper receipt. I re-confirmed that with USCIS. They say that the receipt u get at the end of e-file is the receipt.

My question was:
Even if I have filed for AP, can I still go for an emergency AP to the local USCIS Office ? (It might be that when I go to the local USCIS Office, they might say that since u have already filed for AP, u have to wait for USCIS response!!! Any ideas ?)

Thanks,
Arjun

--Well, i do not know about eFiled AP. But I sure do know about eFiled EAD. I filed EADs and APs together. I did get online receipt as well as a paper receipt for the EAD after a week.
May be you are right about eFiled AP.

--hmm. May be its worth giving it a shot. Try it at your local USCIS office.

Thanks,
Arjun
