In 1997 I entered the states on a B1/B2 but overstayed by 6 months. I left undetected and got a new passport in the UK. I have used this new passport to go to the states many times in the past 2 years without problem. I am now about to apply for my H1B visa stamp in London and need to know if I should mention the fact that I held a B1 in an OLD passport, and that I overstayed. Or should I not mention the fact since I have a new passport. DO the consulates keep records by passport number or by names? This is VERY urgent as I have to send it off this week and need to know what to do.
